Olivier Jacque took part in his first races in 1990 and one year later finished
fourth at the Lorraine Championships, a result which persuaded him to take the
step into national 125cc competition. His performances caught the eye of Marc
Fontan, who signed him up to ride alongside Regis Laconi in the 250cc European
Championship where he finished runner-up in 1994. The following year he was
recruited by the Tech 3 team to contest the 250 World Championship, a title
he eventually lifted in 2000 on a Yamaha. Jacque stayed with the Tech 3 squad
as they entered the 500 class in 2001 with a YZR500, but he failed to live up
to expectations as he was constantly hit by injuries over the next two seasons.
Jacque got his first taste of the M1 at the back end of 2002 and will look to
finally consolidate his potential with the four-stroke machine this year.
